L’Anima della pietra. Installazione di Fabrizio Plessi

(The soul of stone. Installation by Fabrizio Plessi)
Collateral event of the Art Biennale

Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti
Palazzo Loredan, Venice
3rd June – 20th October 2009

On the occasion of the 53rd Venice Biennale, as part of the Collateral Events, the Venetian artist Fabrizio Plessi, whose works are to be found in the most prestigious contemporary art collections worldwide, continues his studies on the Michelangelesque theory that the finished work is already to be found in the untouched material.

Plessi has created a video-installation in which he uses new technologies to explore the nineteenth-century busts of the marvellous Panteon Veneto in Palazzo Loredan, which our Office has just recently restored as a museum setting.

Plessi’s reappraisal has the deeper meaning of a dialogue between an artist and an architect, between art and restoration, the passage of a witness between history and the contemporary.

We were in charge of the arrangement of the installation, including the distribution of the steel supports for the stone blocks in the Panteon, as well as the lighting.
