Special opening of the Museum of the Great War in the Mountains

Forte Col Badin,
Chiusaforte (Udine)
27 July 2012

On a magnificently sunny Friday 27 July 2012 a large public gathering joined the Municipality of Chiusaforte along with the President of the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Renzo Tondo, and the councillor Roberto Molinaro, to celebrate the completion of the work to establish Forte Col Badin, the Museum of the Great War in the Mountains.
Our studio was responsible for the restoration of the building, the preparation of the museum displays and the exhibition concept.
Forte Col Badin, the Museum of the Great War in the Mountains – a project funded by the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia – is one of the few sites in the region where the history of the first world war in the area is told from inside a war building dating from the time of the war itself. In the museum, the public can touch most of the locally sourced exhibits that convey just how little now remains of the thousands of men who passed through the area.
As well as the completed and fully functioning exhibition, the fort has a recently restored conference room, bookshop and café, while the guest house and outdoor area are in the completion phase.
