Fulvio Caputo

Fulvio Caputo, C and C architettura ingegneria

Born in Muggia, in the province of Trieste, he graduated in architecture at the Venice University Institute of Architecture (IUAV) and specialised in History of Art at Padua University.

Experience in design and publications
In 1999, he founded the design company CandC architettura ingegneria. He is now the company’s technical director.

In Venice, his main works have been the restoration and re – functionalization of the monumental complex of San Salvador (client: Telecom Italia spa, 1985-1988), the island of San Lazzaro degli Armeni (client: Congregazione Armeno Mechitarista, 1999-2000), the Artigianelli complex (client: Opera di don Orione, 1997-2007), the palaces Franchetti and Loredan (client: Istituto di Scienze, Lettere e Arti, 2002-2008), the Pemma Zambelli palace (client: Pegaso srl, 2007-2017), and the Palazzo Bonvicini Palace (client: Pegaso srl, from 2019).
Outside Venice, his main works have been the restoration of the Castle of Haderburg in Salorno – BZ (client: Ernesto Albrizzi Rubin, 2000-2003), of the Convent of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Brisighella – RA (client: Comune di Brisighella, 2010-2012) and of Forte Col Badin in Chiusaforte – UD (client: Comune di Chiusaforte, 2007-2012).

With regard to new building, the main interventions were carried out in the Venetian Historic Centre – Giudecca Giardino (client: Gabriella srl, 2000-2004) and Giudecca Mare (client: Sviluppo 18 srl 2003-2006), residential buildings.

With regard to museum and art installations, the main projects and works management include: the museological project and the museum exhibition lay out of the Museum of the Great War in the Mountains – MGGM (client: the City of Chiusaforte – UD, 2009-2012); Exhibition Centre (client: Officina delle Zattere, Venice, 2012), Malga dell’Alpinismo (client: the Municipality of Chiusaforte, 2013), Universo dell’irrealtà (client: Berengo Studio, Venice, 2013), Sala Luigi Luzzati (client: Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere e Arti, Venice, 2013), Support (client: Lorenzo Quinn, Venice, 2017).

Experience as Project Leader
He has created, trained and coordinated interdisciplinary working groups that have carried out projects and produced output of particular complexity.

Among his main projects, in the restoration field: the Feasibility Plan for the 2000 Expo in Trieste (client: Association TriestExpo’, 1999); the museological project for the Eco-tech Centre. Interactive museum on man and the environment in the Convent of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Brisighella (Union of Municipalities of Brisighella, Casasola Valsenio and Riolo Terme, 2011-2012).

With regard to new building, among the main projects: Winter Sports Theme Park in Cortina – BL (client: Filiera Veneta, 2016-2017); Fondamenta Novissima. Ecosestiere alla Giudecca. 2020-2040 in Venezia (client: Filiera Veneta, 2016-2017); Chiout Nevee, touristic/reception buildings, in the Municipality of Chiusaforte – UD (client: Invest Nevee srl 2015-2016).

With regard to cultural projects, five projects winners of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region call for tender for the celebrations of the Centenary of the Great War (for the Gemonese, Canal del Ferro and Valcanale Mountain Community, 2013-2016).

Assignments
Since 2016, he is Vice-President of Filiera Veneta, a network of associations specialized in renovation projects within the tourist-accommodations sector pursuant to sustainability standards.

Academic career and research
He taught the History and techniques of contemporary architecture in the degree course of Construction Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering in Trieste from 1994 to 2000. He taught History of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture in Trieste (2000-2001).

Other scientific activities
He was the scientific curator for numerous exhibitions including “Le carte dell’Impero” (Trieste, 1982), “Neoclassico. Arte, architettura e cultura a Trieste 1790-1840” (Trieste, 1990), “La città delle forme. Architettura e arti applicate a Trieste. 1945-1957” (Trieste, 2004).

He co-founded the journal “Rivista europea del Neoclassico” and was the director from 1992 until 1998.

In 2019 he founded the series “Prospetti veneziani” (a series of studies on the transformation of the territory in the metropolitan city of Venice published by Anteferma Edizioni) and is currently a member of its Scientific Committee.
